The first stop takes you to the Maison de Jean-Jacques Rousseau – Les Charmettes, a listed historical monument since 1905. This iconic site, simultaneously a protected natural area, botanical garden, and museum, is intimately linked to the development of one of the greatest writers in the French language. Les Charmettes bears witness to Jean-Jacques Rousseau's profound influence on universal thought: nature, Romanticism, education, happiness, the Enlightenment, human rights, and citizenship. The French-style garden, faithful to the 18th century, houses a rich collection of medicinal, vegetable, fruit, and culinary herbs. Then, continue your journey towards the vineyards of the Chartreuse Mountains. From above, you'll see the Château du Général de Boigne, named after the famous benefactor of Chambéry. A parking area allows you to take a break and enjoy a stroll in the park.
