  • From Chambéry to the Chartreuse vineyards and from Chignin to electric Vespa

Starting in Chambéry, the city of the Dukes of Savoy, embark on an unusual journey through vineyards and villages, blending heritage, nature, and Savoyard gastronomy. The first stop takes you to the Maison de Jean-Jacques Rousseau – Les Charmettes, a listed historical monument since 1905. This iconic site, simultaneously a protected natural area, botanical garden, and museum, is intimately linked to the development of one of the greatest writers in the French language. Les Charmettes bears witness to Jean-Jacques Rousseau's profound influence on universal thought: nature, Romanticism, education, happiness, the Enlightenment, human rights, and citizenship. The French-style garden, faithful to the 18th century, houses a rich collection of medicinal, vegetable, fruit, and culinary herbs. Then, continue your journey towards the vineyards of the Chartreuse Mountains. From above, you'll see the Château du Général de Boigne, named after the famous benefactor of Chambéry. A parking area allows you to take a break and enjoy a stroll in the park. The road along the hillside leads you gently to Lac de Saint-André, a true haven of unspoiled nature, steeped in history, located at the foot of the majestic Mont Granier. An ideal spot for a relaxing break. Further along, discover the Notre-Dame de Myans church, an important pilgrimage site since the Mont Granier landslide, whose unique architecture makes it a must-see. Then, cross to the other side of the mountain to reach the Bauges vineyards in Chignin, an iconic terroir of Savoy wine. A tasting will give you the opportunity to meet a dedicated winemaker, working in harmony with nature, certified organic since the 2000s and biodynamic since 2016. The return trip to Chambéry includes a possible stop in Challes-les-Eaux, renowned for its thermal baths and casino. Fancy a sweet treat? Stop by Cédric Pernot's, a renowned pastry chef, to sample macarons, chocolates, and other artisanal pastries. The tour concludes at the Chambéry Tourist Office, where, depending on your arrival time, you can sample the famous Routin syrups, available in over 120 flavors, essential for any mixology.
